Merrick’s eyes were bright, playful almost. They reminded me of the first night we met. A direct contrast to the sky outside. The clouds had turned dark, blanketing the city with its impending storm.

“Interesting how?” I asked.

“Time me,” he said, striding toward the kitchen. “Let’s see which I’m faster at. Making you come. Or hacking the FBI.”

I laughed. He had to be kidding, right? There was no way he was hacking the FBI database. Besides, the man could pleasure me faster than any man I’d ever been with. Most didn’t even bother making sure I orgasmed. Thinking back on it now made me realize just how much I’d failed at relationships. Not that I ever had time for them before. How was it the one man I should never be in bed with was the only man that seemed to arouse me with merely a look?

I ran my hand over the laptop, a thought forming. I blushed at the idea, tucking my lips between my teeth. It was unlike me to even think of something so brazen. So illegal. I’d always been a straight and narrow kind of girl. I wasn’t a prude, but I’d never been adventurous in bed, nor ever had the desire to be until… Merrick.

“What? You’re not man enough to do both at the same time?” I mocked as he pulled out a loaf of bread, peanut butter, and jelly from the refrigerator and set it on the counter. It was the only food he had in the place.

He froze, his brows jumping to his hairline with a slow smile building on his face. “Is that a challenge, Agent Rhodes?”

For the briefest moment, I wanted to retract what I said. I was asking him to break the law and wanting him to make me come as he did it. The thought shouldn’t have aroused me the way it had. Setting my doubts aside, I spread my legs wide, slightly lifting the hem of his shirt I wore to expose the fact I hadn’t bothered with panties.

The PB&J sandwiches he was about to make were abandoned. He prowled toward me. With a long leap, he pounced, tackling me to the mattress. Uncontrollable laughter burst from my mouth as he pinned my arms above my head and settled his body over mine.

He kissed me. “You sure about this?” he asked against my lips.

“No.” I told him the truth. This was a dangerous path I was going down with him. It meant my life would never be the same. It meant questioning everything I ever believed to be true. I tried not to think about it all.

He made a strained sound while grinding against me, making me even crazier. It felt so good. Too good.

“Tell me to stop, and I will.”

I moaned against his lips, wanting him impossibly closer. “I can’t.”

I dug my nails into his skin trying for the impossible. He shoved my shirt up. The rough brush of his calloused hand skated up my stomach as his firm skin found mine.
